CCF School, Sanglahill (District Nankana Sahib)

Child Care Foundation High School Sangla Hill is a bench mark for other schools in the area. The school was established in April 1998 to bring poor working children out of the loop of poverty and child labor. Starting with a one class of 35 children, the school now consists of 12 classes up to the middle level. The school was upgraded and was registered as high school in 2003. At present, 385 children are studying at CCF High school Sangla Hill. All children are provided free books, stationary, and sports items. Vocational skills training is part CCF school activities. Currently one ‘Vocational Center’ is fully operational in Sangla Hill School benefitting several underprivileged girls. CCF has also introduced ‘Computer Education’ in the school to teach computer skills to its students and school staff to become more technically empowered. At present, 50 students of senior classes and 13 school teachers are learning computer skills on regular basis.

In February 2011, CCF Sangla Hill School (SHS) was converted into Formal English Medium School for underprivileged girls of the area. For this purpose, a need assessment was made and a comprehensive development plan was developed in-consultation with the School Principal, Staff and the support of CCF management in November 2010. Under the development plan, the entire school and class rooms were repainted to create pleasant environment for the children and staff, play rounds were properly developed for sports and outdoor activities, a children’s library was developed courtesy Justice R Nasira Iqbal, school was effectively fumigated against Dengue Mosquito, all the school children and staff were vaccinated against Hepatitis-B as Nankana District is highly vulnerable to the disease of Hepatitis-B. New subject specialist teachers (Maths, English, Computers, & Vocational) were inducted to remove the subject deficiencies of the students and to enable them to compete with the children of other well –managed school in the district. Sangla Hill School teachers were put through continuous quality training program with the support of Ali Institute for Education Lahore. Teachers, Principal and other staff salaries were revised to enhance their morale and overall performance. It’s a matter of great satisfaction for CCF that the pass percentage of its children appearing in GOVT supervised Final Primary Exams is above 98%. Today we can proudly say that SHS has become a flagship school of CCF to render quality education to underprivileged children of the area.
