CCF Non-Formal Schools

Introduction to the Concept of Non-Formal Method of Education
CCF Non-Formal Schools or (NFBE) Centers
Non-Formal Schools are also known as Non-Formal Basic Education (NFBE) Centers and are meant for the underprivileged / working children who are deprived of their elementary education due to poverty or non-availability of Public/ Private Schools in their communities. Non-Formal Schools are setup in a one room school that accommodates 35-40 children of varying age groups (7 to 14 years). Usually these schools are setup at the doorstep of rural communities to encourage Girl Child Education.
The main purpose of Non-Formal Primary Schools is that they are economical and help in providing completely free Primary Level Education to children in 36 months. This method of education is recognized as Non-Formal Method of Education. A specially designed and approved syllabus is taught that helps children makeup for their lost academic years. Especially trained teachers from the same community are inducted in each school. Village Education Committees and Family Education Committees are constituted at each community to control children’s dropout ratios and to monitor school teacher’s performance. Final Primary Exam of these Non-Formal Schools is conducted under GOVT supervision. Primary pass children under this system of education are later mainstreamed in Government Schools. For this purpose, a network of adequately qualified and trained ‘Field Mobilizers’ in established to develop and maintain a highly effective communication bridge between CCF and its concerned communities where these Non-Formal Schools are setup. Objective is to keep regular check on the performance of schools, school teachers, students’ school attendance and dropout ratios.
